AICPA® and CIMA® members share insights from their experience with digital transformation.
Laying the groundwork includes assessing the organization’s current processes and envisioning where you’d like to go. With those distinctions in place, you’ll see the gaps between the two and have a clear view of what needs to change internally. The process-mapping piece is the first layer of the foundation.
Step 2 is to collaborate with employees, clients and vendors. You’ll want to include staff members at all levels because they may know of a problem that you hadn’t noticed.
To finesse your plan, you’ll want to take an iterative approach. Communicate with the project team as routinely as you all deem necessary. Pause and actively listen to feedback. There will be pitfalls or missteps along the journey, but these lessons can serve your efforts well when you’re open to suggestions and pivot while always keeping the long-term goal in sight.
