The U.S and various international bodies have recently formed programs aimed at combating kleptocracy, including implementing efforts to return the ill-gotten gains to the rightful owner. Kleptocracy, typically associated with government corruption, is often similar in structure and technique to the methods money launders, Ponzi scheme operators and other criminal enterprises use.
