Pair of CPAs Honored for Exceptional Volunteer Service at AICPA’s Forensic and Valuation Services Conference

Anna Maria Cicirello and Michelle Gallagher Receive Volunteer of the Year Awards

LAS VEGAS (November 14, 2017) - The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) is pleased to announce that Anna Maria Cicirello, CPA, CGMA, CFF, ABV is the Forensic and Litigation Services Volunteer of the Year, and Michelle Gallagher, CPA, CFF, ABV is the Business Valuation Volunteer of the Year.

Cicirello and Gallagher were honored with these awards at the AICPA Forensic and Valuation Services (FVS) Conference today in Las Vegas.

The AICPA’s FVS Section represents CPAs who provide forensic accounting and business valuation services. It offers the Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) and Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) specialty credentials for CPAs who concentrate in these areas.

“Anna Maria and Michelle are selfless and hard-working volunteers,” said Jeannette Koger, CPA, CGMA, the AICPA’s Vice President of Advisory Services and Credentialing. “Through the years, they’ve dedicated their time and energy to advancing the accounting profession in the areas of financial forensics and business valuation. It is fitting to honor Anna Maria and Michelle in front of their peers at this year’s FVS Conference, for their leadership and ongoing commitment to supporting their fellow CPAs.”

Cicirello is a Senior manager with KPMG’s Forensic Practice in Toronto. She served as a member of the AICPA CFF Credential Committee, and she currently serves on the AICPA’s National Accreditation Commission (NAC).  Cicirello has been instrumental in the development of a CFF Credential Exam for Canada, and she has served as an instructor for the AICPA CFF Exam Review Course for four consecutive years. She has served as a university instructor for several years, teaching intermediate accounting and auditing.  Cicirello actively participates in the development of training materials for clients and organizations and is a published author. She is a past recipient of AICPA FVS Standing Ovation Honors.

Gallagher owns and operates Gallagher Valuation & Forensics, PLC, and she is a principal with Gallagher, Flintoff & Klein, PLC, in Lansing, Michigan. She is currently the chair of the AICPA ABV Credential Committee and the AICPA ABV Content Specification Outline (CSO) Task Force. Gallagher is a past chair of the AICPA ABV Exam Task Force, has served on AICPA conference planning committees, and currently serves as an AICPA ABV Champion for the state of Michigan. A past recipient of the AICPA FLS Volunteer of the Year Award, Gallagher recently presented testimony on behalf of the AICPA at an IRS public hearing in Washington, D.C.
