New York (April, 14 2016) – The American Institute of CPAs has announced that the application period for the 2016 Leadership Academy is now open. The Leadership Academy, which is now in its eighth year, will be held in Durham, NC from October 2 - 6, 2016.
Over the course of four days, candidates will participate in interactive sessions designed to teach strategic planning techniques and develop their personal success skills – including communication and delegation - for handling complex management challenges. Leadership Academy attendees will be empowered to become leaders within their organization, community and the CPA profession.
“The Leadership Academy is a great example of the AICPA's commitment to ensuring a prosperous future for our profession,” said Angela Ho, CPA, CGMA, Vice President & Controller, Northfield Bank and a 2015 Leadership Academy Graduate. “It was inspiring to participate in a program with like-minded young CPAs who are passionate about their personal and professional development, and eager to become stewards of our profession. The Leadership Academy strengthened my professional network and allowed me to cultivate friendships that will be invaluable in the coming years.”
The Leadership Academy is open to licensed CPAs who are voting members of the AICPA, have more than three years of experience in the profession and are between the ages of 25 and 35.
The AICPA Leadership Academy was established to inspire, nurture and empower the next generation of CPA leaders by providing them with advanced leadership training, access to well-connected professional networks and opportunities to exercise leadership within the profession. To date, more than 200 CPAs have participated in the Leadership Academy.
To apply, candidates submit their resume, licensure information, professional volunteer activities, awards and honors, as well as an essay explaining why participating in the Leadership Academy would be important to them personally. The application deadline is May 31, 2016.
