Washington (April 30, 2013) – Jeffrey A. Porter, chair of the American Institute of CPAs’ (AICPA) Tax Executive Committee, will testify on Wednesday, May 1, at the IRS Oversight Board Public Forum about combating tax fraud and tax identity theft.
Porter will discuss how the dramatic upturn in taxpayer identity theft cases is straining the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) resources, how steps the IRS is taking are helping to curb identity theft, what additional changes the IRS can make and what CPAs and other tax professionals can do to help mitigate the potential for tax fraud and identity theft.
