Wall Street Journal Notes More CPAs Getting Master's Degrees in Accounting

A recent article in the  Wall Street Journal’s CFO Journal  noted that, as the accounting profession has become more complicated, the number of graduate degrees in accounting granted in 2013-2014 shot up 31 percent.
The article quoted Joanne Fiore, the AICPA's vice president for professional media, pathways and inclusion: "more students are recognizing that, and in most cases, the additional academic work needed to acquire the technical competence and develop the skills required by today's CPA is best obtained at the graduate level."
Also noted were master's degree enrollment increases of 23 percent in public universities and 50 percent in private universities for accountants.
