Step 1: Learn

Step 2: Pass the Exam

The Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP®) Exam Content Specification Outline (CSO) includes details of subject areas covered on the exam. The CITP Exam is a computer-based exam that is offered year-round. You may take the exam in-person at a testing center or online in a remotely-proctored environment.

Step 3: Gain Experience

While learning and passing the exam, you should be accumulating the needed 1,000 hours of business experience in the CITP body of knowledge within the 5-year period preceding the date of the CITP application.

Step 4: Get Credentialed

You now can apply for the CITP credential using the online application. You will attest that you hold an active CPA license, passed the CITP exam and, within the last five years, have satisfied the minimum 1,000-hour business experience requirement.
