Strengthening the CPA pipeline through education and outreach

Following a legacy of declining accounting enrollments in the early 2000s, the profession recognized the need to educate high school and college students about the numerous career opportunities available within the CPA profession. The AICPA launched in 2001 as a free resource to help students understand where an accounting career can take them.

The Web site was upgraded in 2009. Now, in addition to the business simulations, games and valuable career, scholarship and internship information that have inspired more than one million student visitors since its launch, the site includes more than 100 profiles of real-life CPA in public practice, industry, government and academia, as well as a Future Me Builder that allows aspiring CPAs to explore and "try on" different careers within the CPA profession.

The site also hosts an online educator community where high school teachers and guidance counselors can network and share lesson plans and other classroom resources related to accounting and the CPA profession.
