Jonathan Horn

Our dear friend and colleague, Jonathan Horn, CPA, passed away on Nov. 29, 2019. Jonathan was born on July 14, 1956 in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Harrison, New York. He was the previous chairman of the New York State Society of CPAs’ Multi-State & Local Taxation Committee and the AICPA Individual & Self-Employed Tax Technical Resource Panel. In recognition of his extraordinary personal effort as a volunteer, Jonathan was awarded the AICPA Tax Division’s Distinguished Service Award in 2015.

In 2015, Jonathan came to work for the AICPA in Washington, D.C. after owning his own tax practice for over 20 years. He was a senior manager on the Tax Policy & Advocacy Team and managed the Partnership Tax Technical Resource Panel and International Tax Technical Resource Panel. Jonathan was very passionate about his work in tax and was particularly in his element since the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. He was like a kid in a candy store every time a notice or regulation package dropped! There was never a tax problem that Jonathan couldn’t solve.

Jonathan will be remembered for his sense of humor, vibrant energy and enthusiasm for travel, casinos, sports, concerts and politics. Jonathan’s boundless energy took over any room that he entered and his zest for life was infectious! He was also incredibly thoughtful and selfless, and even during his final days, he was more concerned about others than himself. Jonathan leaves behind his beloved mother, Shirley and many friends and colleagues who will miss him dearly.
