International Tax Technical Resource Panel

Objectives

The International Taxation TRP identifies issues and develops policy by:

  • Monitoring legislative and regulatory activity on international taxation matters such as cross-border tax planning, international e-commerce, and multinational company mergers; 
  • Identifying issues and recommend modifications to and simplification and clarification of international tax provisions; 
  • Maintaining appropriate relationships with the IRS, Treasury, Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), Congress, and other government officials; 
  • Collaborating with other organizations, such as the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada, that deal with international tax issues, as appropriate; 
  • Serving as a subject matter expert in the area of international taxation for the AICPA conferences team in the planning of relevant conferences; 
  • Acting as a resource to assist the other committees, TRPs, and task forces, as appropriate, on international tax matters; and
  • Oversees the following Task Forces:
    • AICPA/CICA Cross Border Tax Committee Task Force
    • Foreign Asset and Account Disclosures Task Force
    • Foreign Nationals Task Force
    • Foreign Withholding Task Force
    • PFIC Task Force
