A Passion for Helping Clients Manage Their Business
Henry & Horne is a full-service accounting firm that has been providing high quality client services for nearly 60 years. We currently have 17 partners and approximately 140 employees. We serve privately owned companies, which really speaks to our target market here in the Phoenix area. However, within that base we work with a wide range of clients from government and not-for-profit entities to commercial entities in various industries. At Henry & Horne, we are committed to helping our clients manage their business and make the right decisions. We genuinely care about the success of our clients, and this is visible from the top down within the firm. Our partners are all very active in the firm’s work and client relationships. This has had a great effect on both the work that we are doing for clients and the growth of the firm.
When talking about the services that we provide, I like to say that there are four legs to our firm’s ‘stool’ that work together to support our clients. The first of these would be our attest and accounting services. We handle everything from compiled, reviewed or audited financial statements to bookkeeping and general accounting services. The second leg is our tax practice. This area handles individual tax returns all the way up to multi-national corporate tax returns. There are various services that fall under this area, including, but not limited to, income tax preparation, tax planning, research and development tax credit studies, cost segregations and state and local tax consulting. The third leg is business valuation and litigation support. This part of our practice covers everything from valuing a business for sale and purchase price allocations to litigation support for various issues, for example, lost earnings or partner disputes. The fourth and final leg is our wealth management practice, which focuses on providing honest advice to help our clients meet their personal financial goals.
Why We Joined PCPS
Our firm’s PCPS membership predates me, but I will say that we make every effort as a firm to stay on top of what’s happening in our profession and to leverage the AICPA as a resource. From that standpoint, PCPS membership just makes sense for us. One section of the PCPS site that we use often are the Technical: Quality and Services Delivery resources. The Peer Review & Quality Control Document Guidance is especially helpful. There are also a number of staffing resources available in the Human Capital Center that we have used, particularly in terms of creating an internship program.
Another benefit of our PCPS membership is the Center for Plain English Accounting (CPEA), which is available exclusively to PCPS members. Standards in the profession are constantly changing, and the CPEA really helps us say abreast of these developments. Every month, the CPEA issues reports which summarize various topics and provide practical guidance around them and we regularly attend their webinars. We have also utilized their technical inquiry service, which provides well researched, written answers to questions submitted through the site. Henry & Horne is committed to being a progressive, high quality firm and the guidance provided by the CPEA helps us fulfill that commitment.
