Tim is a partner at Benford Brown & Associates, LLC. He has devoted a substantial portion of his career to serving the needs of not-for-profit organizations and government agencies. Tim has extensive experience in financial, compliance, and single audits in accordance with OMB Circular A-133/Uniform Guidance. He has also planned and performed various financial and compliance audits and agreed-upon procedures engagements for different not-for-profit organizations and government entities for more than 22 years. Tim has acquired advanced skills such as not-for-profit accounting and auditing, single audits in accordance with OMB Circular A-133/Uniform Guidance, community colleges, student financial aid, state-funded grant programs, internal controls review and analysis, accounting software implementation and training (particularly QuickBooks), and corporate and individual taxation. He also performs peer reviews of CPA firms with similar types of practices as BB&A.
Tim is a licensed CPA in the State of Illinois. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Illinois CPA Society, Institute of Internal Auditors, and has served in various capacities within the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) including Treasurer for NABA-Central Region and NABA-Chicago. Tim has also served on the Peer Review Acceptance Committee of the Illinois CPA Society and as a board member of the Chicago Community Land Trust.
Tim has previously worked in various supervisory positions for Ernst & Young LLP; KPMG LLP; and staff positions for Washington, Pittman, and McKeever, LLC; Deloitte & Touche LLP; and Watson Rice LLP. He has also worked in the internal audit departments of Ameritech Corporation, Aon Corporation, and Illinois Tool Works, Inc. Tim earned his B.S. in Accountancy from Florida A&M University.
