Tamara Basso Bensky is an energetic, solutions-oriented CPA with more than 23 years experience specializing in health care auditing, consulting and litigation support. Tami is currently a partner in the Owings Mills office of Myers and Stauffer LC. She is qualified as an expert witness on Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement issues and has had great success defending her clients' position with regard to audit appeals filed by nursing homes in the States of Maryland and Florida.
Tami takes an interest in the careers of other young professionals by developing both technical and leadership training programs for the firm and by mentoring several CPAs and accountants in her office. Experience with her prior employer includes managing the firm’s health care practice and developing new business as the national director of that firm’s health care practice. Tami was honored by the Baltimore Business Journal as one of “Baltimore’s 40 under 40” professionals on the rise.
Tami is past-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, a more than 10,000 member professional association. She has served in several other leadership positions including Vice-Chair and Secretary/Treasurer of the Board, Chair of the Structure and Governance Committee, and Board liaison to the New/Young Professionals Network. She received the Max Teichman Outstanding Chair Award for her work with the Structure and Governance Committee. Currently, Tami is a member of MACPA’s Audit and Ethics committees.
Tami is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and has served on numerous committees, including the governing council of the AICPA and the Life Insurance and Disability Committee. Currently, Tami serves the profession as a member of the AICPA Foundation’s Board of Trustees and a member of the PCPS Executive Committee. Tami is a member of Towson University’s Accounting Advisory Board and is a past recipient of TU’s Outstanding Accounting Alumni Award. Tami is also a board member of Bike Maryland, a non-profit whose mission is to promote bicycling and increase safety for bicyclists in Maryland.
