This past June, at the AICPA honored 19 young CPAs for their contributions to the areas of information management and technology assurance with the first annual Standing Ovation, which recognizes the best young CPAs in various specialty credential areas. The recipients, all talented CPA/CITPs age 40 and under, were announced at the AICPA's Practitioners Symposium and Tech+ Conference in Las Vegas.
One of the past recipients, Sundeep Bablani, is currently working as an IT Risk Manager with RSM US LLP in Austin, Texas. He has over 17 years of experience within the public accounting field. He has worked on various engagements which included financial audits as well as consulting. He started off his career working primarily with financial institutions and has expanded his IT knowledge to assist with various industries. In addition to financial audits, he has worked on a variety of consulting engagements including IT general controls review, assisting clients with designing risk assessments, reviewing IT policies and procedures, assisting clients with internal control processes, assisting clients with IT reviews in accordance with regulatory guidance, vendor management audits, reviewing disaster recovery plans, as well as keeping clients informed of best practices within their respective industries.
The Standing Ovation program, launched last year, recognizes young CPAs who exhibit outstanding professional achievement in specialization areas. Nominees must also be 40 years of age or under. If you know someone who works in a field similar to Sundeep or another information management and technology assurance related field and believe they are worthy of a “standing ovation”, nominate them today. If you believe you are worthy, you can nominate yourself. The deadline for submissions has been extended to April 28, 2017.
