This past June, at the AICPA honored 19 young CPAs for their contributions to the areas of information management and technology assurance with the first annual Standing Ovation, which recognizes the best young CPAs in various specialty credential areas. The recipients, all talented CPA/CITPs age 40 and under, were announced at the AICPA's Practitioners Symposium and Tech+ Conference in Las Vegas.
One of the past recipients, Jim Boomer, of Kansas, is the CEO of Boomer Consulting, Inc. He serves as a strategic planning and technology consultant and firm adviser to CPA firms across the country. Prior to Boomer Consulting, Inc., Jim was with BearingPoint and Arthur Andersen Business Consulting. Throughout Jim’s professional career, he has worked on many diverse projects in varied industries. His consulting has focused on IT strategy and implementation including projects focused on Knowledge Management, Document Management, Workplace Collaboration and Corporate Portals. Jim also has experience with several e-Business and Business Intelligence technologies. He is ranked by Accounting Today as one of the 100 Most Influential People in accounting and has been named to The CPA Practice Advisor’s "Forty Under Forty” and "Top 25 Thought Leaders” lists multiple times. Jim was also recognized by Inside Public Accounting as one of the Most Recommended Consultants in 2014.
The Standing Ovation program recognizes young CPAs who exhibit outstanding professional achievement in specialization areas. Nomination requirements for the Standing Ovation program in the Information Management and Technology Assurance (IMTA) specialty area include maintaining an active CPA license, being an AICPA member in good standing, holding the CITP credential and exhibiting outstanding professional achievement. Nominees must also be 40 years of age or under.
If you know someone who works in a field similar to Jim or another information management and technology assurance related field and believe they are worthy of a “standing ovation”, nominate them today. If you believe you are worthy, you can nominate yourself. The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2017.
