Dear Center Members
The Governmental Audit Quality Center (GAQC) is pleased to announce that the AICPA Not-For-Profit (NFP) Section is offering GAQC members the opportunity to register for an upcoming NFP Section continuing professional education (CPE) Web event using the GAQC discounted member price. The purpose of this GAQC Alert is to provide registration information for the event which is titled, Avoiding Common Errors in Not-for-Profit Financial Reporting. It will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016, from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM (Eastern Time) and should be of interest to GAQC members that perform financial statement audits of NFP entities.

Unlike normal GAQC Web events, this event is only available using a CPE option. GAQC members interested in participating in the event should register by entering the GAQC Discount Code of "GAQC16" at checkout to receive the member price of $79.20. Group registration is also available. See more detailed instruction below for individual and group registration. If you encounter any problems with the registration process, contact the AICPA Service Center at 888-777-7077.

Register now for the NFP Section's November 3rd Web event using the CPE Option or read on for more detailed information.
About the Web Event
The NFP Section is gearing this Web event towards NFPs and their auditors. It will explore some of the most common, material errors encountered when conducting NFP audits and what you can do to avoid those common errors. Some of the topics covered in this event include:
The most common errors found in NFP financial statements
The impact errors could have on NFP financial statements
How to avoid errors in NFP financial reporting
About the Presenters
Brian Zygmunt, CPA, is a partner with Crowe Horwath LLP in their NFP and Higher Education Practice in Chicago, Illinois. Brian has dedicated the majority of his 17-year career serving a variety of different nonprofit organizations including colleges and universities, private foundations, membership organizations and religious and cultural institutions. He frequently speaks at conferences on financial reporting, compliance and other topics impacting nonprofit organizations.

Steve Kattell, CPA, is the sole owner of Kattell and Company, P.L. in Gainesville, FL. He founded Kattell and Company in 2004 to provide assurance, tax and consulting services exclusively for NFPs. He has served on several committees of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the AICPA, including serving as Chair of the NFP Industry Expert Panel from 2003 to 2007. He has spoken extensively on accounting, auditing and tax related topics at local, state and national venues.
About the NFP Section
If you audit NFP financial statements, you should be aware of the AICPA NFP Section. It is an individual-based membership section that provides tools and resources to support NFP professionals and business advisors. Resources provided through the Section relate to financial reporting, assurance, tax compliance, and governance topics. The Section's scope does not include single audits or Government Auditing Standards engagements which are covered by your firm's membership in the GAQC. However, individual memberships in the section would be a nice compliment to your firm's membership in the GAQC. Learn more about the AICPA NFP Section membership.
Registration Instructions for CPE Only Option - Individuals and Groups
How to Register

As this is a NFP Section Web event, the registration process will be slightly different than what you may be used to. The GAQC member registration fee is $79.20 per participant payable online by credit card only (no billing option is available). To obtain this price, you must use the GAQC Discount code of "GAQC16" when checking out. In accordance with CPE qualification standards, you must register before the Web event begins to receive CPE credit. To ensure you receive CPE for this Web event, please complete your online registration by noon on Thursday, November 3rd. You will also be required to participate in a minimum of 75% of the pop-up participation markers during the event. No CPE will be available after a Web event has started or at any time after a live event.

Some members prefer to register more than one individual for the CPE option. This group registration option is available for registering as few as 2 participants with price discounts for groups of 5 participants or more. The Web event registration page (see link below) provides you with "how to" and pricing information. A "Webcast Group Viewing" document also provides additional instructions including how to access CPE certificates after the event.

GAQC Member CPE Option: Access the November 3rd Web event registration page for individuals or groups.

Accessing CPE Certificates

Immediately following successful completion of the Web event, a CPE Certificate will be available by clicking the orange "Get CPE" icon in the Webcast player. Alternatively, it will be available within 24 hours by re-logging into the Web event link with the same e-mail address that you used to purchase the event. Group CPE certificates must be accessed from the purchaser's e-mail address.
Archive of the Web Event
The NFP section is also allowing GAQC members to access an archive of this Web event. The event and slide presentation will be archived on the GAQC Web site under "Archived Member Web Events." No CPE will be available for listening to the archived event.
