Luis Plascencia
Luis Plascencia is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in Illinois. His firm specializes in servicing small businesses to mid-size businesses, non-profit organizations, and cannabis businesses. Mr. Plascencia is a member of the faculty at Harold Washington College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, and is a current member of the AICPA Tax Practice Responsibilities Committee. Luis has served as the Chairperson of the Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS) Tax Practice and Procedures Committee. He has served on multiple ICPAS Committees including the Cannabis Industry Forum Group, the Cannabis Content Advisory Group, the Tax Practice and Procedures Committee, and the Legislators Tax Guide Task Force. Mr. Plascencia is a frequent speaker at various ICPAS continuing education events including the annual Summit and annual Cannabis Industry Conference. Additionally, Luis has also delivered presentations on Cannabis Taxation to members of the Illinois Society of Enrolled Agents. Mr. Plascencia currently serves on the State of Illinois Board of Examiners (Accountancy). He is an avid distance runner and cyclist. Luis has volunteered his time to Chicago Area Runners Association and is a frequent charity runner for Organization for Autism Research.
Holly Love
Holly has been a member of Deloitte Tax LLP’s National Quality Assurance and Risk Management Group for almost six years. In this role she focuses on Firm quality, risk, and regulatory matters. She advises Firm professionals on a variety of matters including independence, compliance with state and federal regulatory matters, and brand and reputational risk. Holly is deeply involved as a risk specialist in the area of innovation. Prior to this role, Holly spent the first part of her career at Deloitte Tax advising clients on a broad range of matters in Business Tax Services and subsequently built her bench of Firm knowledge in roles within Tax Clients & Markets as well as Knowledge Management.
Stephen Valenti
Stephen P. Valenti, CPA, practices for his own account and is a retired Professor of Accounting and Finance at New York University. Steve was the 2012 Recipient of the New York State Society of CPAs Distinguished Service Award and a past recipient of the Foundation for Accounting Education (FAE) Outstanding Discussion Leader award. Steve is a past Vice-President of the New York State Society of CPAs and is a past Chair of the Tax Division Oversight (Executive) Committee. Stephen previously served on the AICPA IRS Practice & Procedures Committee, Tax Practice Management Committee and Tax Education Task Force. He is a current member of the Tax Practice Responsibilities Committee.
