Protect data this audit season

With so much sensitive data being collected by companies, mishandling data occurs by using it inappropriately, disclosing it to unauthorized parties, or lacking safeguards.

Those risks can be transferred to you when you gain access to and retain personal data during an audit or investigation.

As the privacy landscape is quickly evolving and prescriptive privacy legislations are developing, it is imperative for practitioners to be familiar with privacy obligations and reduce risks of privacy non-compliance.

Key Topics

  • Privacy governance
  • Data storage and retention
  • Personal data handling practices
  • Consent and lawful basis

Learning Outcomes

  • Recognize privacy legislations and extraterritorial privacy obligations.
  • Identify privacy exemptions that apply to audits/investigations.
  • Apply general privacy principles to an audit practice.
  • Identify the difference between personal data, personally identifiable data, and sensitive data and recognize when they should be treated differently.
  • Apply privacy governance throughout an investigation lifecycle, including pre-investigation, during the investigation, and post-investigation.

Who Will Benefit

  • Practitioners who have access to personal data either through investigations or in operating a business.
