CPAs Can Help Vets Succeed in Business Ventures through New AICPA Program

May 25, 2011

CPAs can volunteer to give veterans up to 5 free hours of financial advice about how to start a business as part of a new program the AICPA is starting with SCORE, a Herndon, Va.-based non-profit organization that provides mentoring and training to entrepreneurs through its volunteers.

AICPA, SCORE, the Walmart Foundation, Intacct and other technology partners joined to create the “Veterans Fast Launch” program to help veterans and their families succeed. It’s part of the White House’s Joining Forces initiative sponsored by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden.

“The initiative stands to create powerful opportunities for our veterans and the local communities their businesses serve,” AICPA President and CEO Barry Melancon said. “Our involvement underscores the CPA profession’s longstanding commitment to entrepreneurs and to members of our armed forces. We look forward to helping make the Fast Launch initiative and the veterans who participate successful.”

CPAs who would like to learn more about volunteering with this program should e-mail the AICPA at Be sure to include “CPA Volunteer for Fast Launch” in the subject line.
