“As a first-generation college student, it was inspiring to hear from professionals in the accounting field who had similar backgrounds to mine, and it was wonderful to network with like-minded students from around the country.”
– Joyce Ozuna, MAcc Graduate, ASLW Participant
The AICPA Foundation Annual Report offers a glimpse of the programs and scholarships funded in part by donations from individuals, firms, state societies, and others. Below are some highlights from a few of these funded programs:
- The AICPA Foundation funded over 100 scholarships for the AICPA Legacy Scholarship Program, which supports the top accounting students from a wide range of backgrounds and levels of education. The Foundation provides nearly $500,000 annually in support of this program.
- AICPA Accounting Program for Building the Profession (APBP): APBP trains high school educators to teach a higher-level accounting curriculum. The curriculum is comparable to what a college student would learn in an entry level accounting course. The AICPA Foundation fully funds the program, and over 1,200 teachers have been trained across 48 states to date.
- AICPA Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop (ASLW): ASLW is an annual invitational program hosting over 100 minority accounting students each year. The workshop aims to strengthen students’ professional skills and understanding of the limitless possibilities and benefits of earning the CPA certification. Students who attend have all expenses paid by the AICPA Foundation.
