Step 1: Learn

Step 2: Pass the Exam

The exam is a four-hour multiple-choice format offered at test centers throughout the United States and Canada and built around content areas that encompass professional responsibilities and practice management, fundamental forensic knowledge and specialized forensic knowledge.

Step 3: Gain Experience

CFF candidates must have a minimum of 1,000 hours of business experience in forensic accounting within the five-year period preceding the date of the credential application. Candidates can apply to be matched with a mentor through the CFF Mentor Program. Among other responsibilities, mentors may provide guidance on how to become a CFF and start and/or develop a forensic accounting practice.
 

Step 4: Get Credentialed

After passing the CFF credential exam, you must apply for the CFF credential, granted exclusively by the AICPA to CPAs who demonstrate expertise in forensic accounting through their knowledge, skills and experience.
