State CPA societies and their state CPA lawmakers discussed a host of state tax policy issues that affect the accounting profession at a meeting sponsored by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) State Regulation and Legislation Team on July 15 in New Orleans, La.
Attendees from over 25 state CPA societies discussed important profession issues including state tax preparer regulation, taxes on professional services, comprehensive state tax reform and the impact of federal tax policy on states. In total, over 40 attendees from state CPA societies, AICPA, the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, CPA firms and other stakeholder organizations participated in the day-long discussion.
Two state CPA lawmakers – State Representatives Julie Stokes, CPA (La.) and Dave Richardson, CPA (Fla.) – provided insight into tax policy issues in their states.
