AICPA-Supported Initiative's DC Summit Explores Transformation of Federal Government

    Published January 30, 2014

The Government Transformation Initiative (GTI), a coalition of corporations, nonprofits, and others promoting the establishment of a statutory commission for transforming the operations of the federal government, recently hosted a Government Transformation Summit in our nation’s capital.

The January 23 Summit brought together industry, government, and non-profit leaders who are committed to practical, not political, solutions to government efficiency and effectiveness.  Summit speakers, who included the Honorable David Walker, chairman of GTI and a former U.S. Comptroller General, and other participants focused on what can be done to drive transformation and innovation during lean fiscal times.

GTI supports the statutory creation of a commission that will facilitate and ensure the transformation and improvement of federal processes and programs.  Legislation to that effect has been introduced in both the Senate (S. 1297) and the House (H.R. 2675).

AICPA President and CEO Barry Melancon, CPA, CGMA, is a founder of GTI and serves on its Board.
