Gregory J. Anton is Chairman of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants for 2011-12. Anton also serves on the governing council of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) in London and on the board of an AICPA-CIMA joint venture that launched the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation in January and covers more than 550,000 members and students worldwide.
Anton has served the AICPA in many capacities. He was a member of the Board of Directors and the governing Council for seven years. He chaired the Finance Committee in 2008-2009 and the Board Task Force on Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board’s (FASAB) Rule 203 Review. FASAB is the board charged with developing GAAP for federal financial reporting entities. He has served on the Audit, Compensation and Investments Committees, as well as the Member Advisory Panel and the Expert Panels Oversight Group.
Anton is a founding partner of Anton Collins Mitchell LLP in Denver, CO. His career as a CPA began with BDO USA, LLP where he became an Office Managing Partner in the Assurance Business Line. During his career he has provided accounting and auditing services to private, public and multinational businesses in many industries and consulted on debt and equity offerings in the United States and the United Kingdom.
He was past chair of the Colorado Society of CPAs’ Board of Directors from 2004-2005
Anton graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a B.S. in accounting and was past chair of the UNC School of Accountancy Advisory Board, past president of the UNC Alumni Association and a recipient of the Honored Alumni Award from UNC for his contributions to business.
