American Institute of CPAs’ (AICPA) President and CEO Barry Melancon, CPA, CGMA, welcomed the CPA members of Congress and expressed appreciation for their efforts on behalf of the profession. The reception was an opportunity for Melancon, AICPA Immediate Past Chair Greg Anton, AICPA Board Member Jim Bourke and other members of the profession to discuss accounting and tax issues with the legislators and their staff members.
“The 12 representatives and senators who are CPAs or accountants bring a unique perspective to financial policy debates on Capitol Hill,” AICPA Senior Vice President for Governmental & Public Affairs Mark Peterson explained. “The reception allowed us to publicly acknowledge their commitment to the profession’s ideals and standards as they navigate the legislative process.”
