| PUTTING THE CPA VISION IN YOUR HANDS I'm sure you've noticed something different about this issueenclosed is a CD-ROM called CPA Vision: Focus on the Horizon. Undoubtedly, you've heard a lot about the CPA Vision over the last two years. It's an unprecedented, one-of-a-kind approach in which the profession has mapped out a new future for itself. Simply stated, it's been a grassroots effort that has involved over 3,000 CPAs from all segments of the profession. We've chosen the CD-ROM format to bring you the CPA Vision findings because it is comprehensive, user-friendly and interactive. The CD-ROM delivers large amounts of information, including full-length reports and in-depth research papers, video clips of CPA pathfinders and others sharing their views, streaming graphics and Internet links for future research. It also offers a self-assessment tool and other materials that we believe you will find challenging and thought provoking. Let me add that in our busy lives it's very easy to put something like this CD-ROM on the shelf and never take a look at it. However, since our profession is undergoing so much change, I highly recommend that each and every AICPA member spend some time exploring this CD-ROM. And there's no reason to view it from beginning to end in one sittingin fact, there's really no beginning or end. It's put together in a way that you can controlread or view what you like when you like. It's both a powerful research tool and an interactive guide geared to individual use in a self-directed way. There are many things we, as individual CPAs, can do about the future of our profession. Through the CPA Vision, we have the shared thinking of our fellow CPAssmall practitioners, partners in large firms, members in business and industry, in government and education and from every state in the unionto guide our efforts. The CPA Vision was created by your peersin fact, the AICPA leadership chose not to participate in the process at all when the recommendations and the final report were being developed. If you wish to know anything about your future, I encourage you to take a few minutes to look at the CD-ROM. With it, you might say, you've got the CPA Vision in your own hands.
