onald S. Cohen, former AICPA chair, and William H. Holder, CPA, a University of Southern California (USC) professor, received the AICPAs Gold Medal for Distinguished Service at the fall council meeting. Doyle Z. Williams, chair of the AICPA Awards Committee, and former AICPA board chair Leslie Murphy presented the awards, which recognize CPAs who have had an extraordinary positive influence on the profession.
Cohen served on the AICPA board and on the Audit, Finance, Regulation and Structure committees and the SEC Practice Section Executive Committee. He also was named one of
Accounting Todays
100 most influential accountants and received the Indiana CPA Society Presidents Award.
Holder was a member of the Institutes governing council and board of directors, served as chair of the Audit Committee and the AICPA Board of Examiners and was on the CPA Exams Computerization Implementation Committee. He is director of USCs SEC and Financial Reporting Institute and former director of the universitys master of accounting program. Holder also was selected as one of
