Overread Program Overview

PFI Resource Center

Partners in Excellence (PIE) Program

The Partners in Excellence (PIE) program sponsored by Cytogen Corporation is a training program designed for new and existing ProstaScint® (Capromab Pendetide) users. This service provides users with educational materials and training on image acquisition, processing, and interpretation. It is supported by Cytogen's Clinical Oncology Specialists (COS), a highly specialized technical and clinical support group.

The objectives of the program are twofold:

  1. To ensure that ProstaScint studies deliver consistent, high quality, diagnostic information.
  2. To ensure that ProstaScint utilization helps with clinical decision making.

Interpretation of a ProstaScint study requires knowledge of the pelvic anatomy, experience in interpreting nuclear medicine studies and an understanding of normal and abnormal biodistribution of monoclonal antibodies. As part of the ProstaScint PIE program, sites will receive educational materials to assist with ProstaScint image interpretation, and have access to a ProstaScint Overread Program.

Once a site has successfully completed the ProstaScint training program, they will be recognized as a Partners in Excellence (PIE) Site and be added to the Cytogen PIE Directory. They will continue to have access to the overread service and support from the COS team.

Overread Program

Cytogen provides a collegial overread service to educate radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians in the acquisition, processing and interpretation of ProstaScint studies.

The Cytogen overread network is comprised of radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians with extensive ProstaScint imaging experience.

This ongoing service is made available to all ProstaScint users.

ProstaScint images should be interpreted only by physicians who have had specific training in ProstaScint image interpretation and proper patient preparation is mandatory to obtain optimal images for interpretation (see PRECAUTIONS, Imaging Precautions in the full prescribing information).

For more information about the Partners in Excellence Program please contact Cytogen Professional Services Department at 1-800-833-3533, Option 3.

Patient management should not be based on ProstaScint® scan results without appropriate confirmatory studies since in the pivotal trials, there was a high rate of false positive and false negative image interpretations. ProstaScint images should be interpreted only by physicians who have had specific training in ProstaScint image interpretation. Medications for the treatment of hypersensitivity reactions should be available during administration of this agent.
