Member Ballots Due October 8; Mail Today |

Ballots on a proposed bylaw amendment regarding admission requirements to join the AICPA as voting members are due at the close of business, Oct. 8, Eastern Time. If you did not receive a ballot or if you need a replacement, download the ballot materials from AICPA.org. Be sure to follow the instructions for completing and mailing the ballot. To ensure that the independent tabulator receives your ballot by the deadline, we suggest you send it today. The AICPA governing Council unanimously voted to issue the ballot and recommends members approve the change.

IRS Activates New PTIN System |

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) launched its new preparer tax identification number (PTIN) regime September 28, a major step in its planned system of registration, qualification and oversight of all paid tax return preparers. The AICPA worked tirelessly to ensure that CPAs’ commitment to professional practice standards was taken into account in the tax preparer registration regulation process, specifically CPAs’ superior education, regulation and ethical standards.
