Washington (April 28, 2014) – Jeffrey A. Porter, chair of the American Institute of CPAs’ Tax Executive Committee, will testify on Tuesday, April 29, at a hearing, titled H.R. 1129, the “Mobile Workforce State Income Tax Simplification Act of 2013,” which will be held by the House Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Anti-Trust Law.
Porter will testify in support of H.R. 1129, which would prohibit states from taxing most non-resident employees unless the employee is present and performing employment duties in the state for more than 30 days during the calendar year. The AICPA believes H.R. 1129 provides long-overdue relief to taxpayers and their employers from the current web of inconsistent state income tax and withholding rules that impact everyone who travels for work.
The hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET in Room 2141 of the Rayburn House Office Building, Independence Avenue and South Capitol Street, S.W., Washington, D.C.
A copy of the AICPA’s testimony is attached and available on the committee website.
