Durham, N.C. (October 7, 2013) – The American Institute of CPAs today announced that it has been recognized as a model of excellence for flexible and family-friendly benefits, receiving for the fourth consecutive year three prominent awards for its employee offerings.
The awards were sponsored by one regional and three national organizations.
The Society for Human Resources Management and Families and Work Institute, through their joint “When Work Works” initiative, recognized the AICPA with an Alfred P. Sloan Award for Excellence in Workplace Effectiveness and Flexibility. The program honors small and large employers across the country that have put in place innovative and effective workplace practices.
The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption named the AICPA to its annual “Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces List,” which recognizes 100 companies with the best adoption benefits nationwide. And Carolina Parenting again placed the AICPA on its “N.C. Family Friendly 50” list. It highlights companies in the state with exemplary benefits that support and encourage working parents.
“The AICPA is committed to building a high performing team focused on supporting our members and the CPA profession,” said Lawson Carmichael, AICPA senior vice president for strategy, people and innovation. “Robust employee benefits are critical to ensuring that we attract and keep top talent. We are honored to receive recognition for our offerings from these respected organizations.”
The AICPA’s benefits include competitive compensation, maternity and paternity leave, tuition reimbursement, gym reimbursement, flexible work arrangements and paid time off for community service. In Durham, where the AICPA maintains its largest office, employees are active with a number of organizations, including Durham Public Schools, Susan G. Komen and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
