Durham, N.C. (December 4, 2013) – The American Institute of CPAs announced today that it has received national recognition for its suite of benefits that helps put employees on stronger financial footing. The Principal Financial Group named the Institute to its annual list of top companies for employee financial security – the fourth award in as many months for the AICPA’s benefits program.
The Principal 10 Best Companies for Employee Financial Security recognizes small and mid-sized companies that excel in giving their employees a “financial edge.” An independent panel of experts selects winners that demonstrate a commitment to their employees’ total financial security.
The AICPA was recognized for having a set of offerings that benefits employees across the spectrum of their lives. The Institute, for instance, helps employees prepare for the long-term by offering automatic 401(k) enrollment and automatic contribution increases. And it helps them manage healthcare costs by providing wellness benefits such as subsidized gym memberships and on site weight loss programs. The AICPA also offers personal finance classes for its employees and resources built on the CPA profession’s award-winning 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy program.
“CPAs fundamentally understand the importance of sound fiscal health to a person’s overall well-being,” said Lawson Carmichael, AICPA senior vice president for strategy, people and innovation. “At the AICPA, one of our prioritized benefits for our employees and their families is to assist them with building and maintaining solid financial foundations. It’s an honor to be recognized as a national model.”
Since August, the AICPA has been recognized by four other national and regional organizations for its employee benefits program and practices. The Society for Human Resources Management and Families and Work Institute, through their joint “When Work Works” initiative, recognized the AICPA with an Alfred P. Sloan Award for Excellence in Workplace Effectiveness and Flexibility. The program honors small and large employers across the country with innovative and effective workplace practices.
The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption named the AICPA to its annual “Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces List,” which recognizes 100 companies with the best adoption benefits nationwide. And Carolina Parenting placed the AICPA on its “N.C. Family Friendly 50” list. It highlights companies in the state with exemplary benefits that support and encourage working parents.
