Be a Star in Business Be a CPA! Advertising Campaign

In 1999, the AICPA Minority Initiatives Committee launched the “Be a Star in Business…Be a CPA!” advertising campaign, with the goal of creating awareness and encouraging minority high school and early college students to become CPAs.

The “Be a Star” advertisements featured celebrities in the area of sports, fashion, and entertainment praising the talents of their CPAs.  Featured past entertainers include Lisa Leslie of the Los Angeles Sparks, Robert Horry of the Los Angeles Lakers, and international tennis stars, Venus and Serena Williams.  Most recently, Adrian Bracy, CPA and CFO of the St Louis Rams is depicted wearing her Super Bowl championship ring.

The ads were placed in minority oriented publications including Black Enterprise, Ebony, Essence, Jet, Hispanic Business Magazine, NV Magazine, Vibe.  Additionally, poster-size reprints of the ads were sent to State Societies, high schools and colleges, and conferences of our partnering organizations.

At present, the Minority Initiatives Committee is in the process of reviewing and updating this advertising campaign.
