In this web seminar, experts discussed current valuation issues as illustrated in recent Federal estate and gift tax cases litigated in the U.S. Tax Court and Federal District Courts.

Participants gained an understanding of the status of existing and emerging valuation issues in the federal estate and gift tax area and were brought up to speed on the scope of the new rules and opportunities for doing valuation work. These include: transfer tax rates and lifetime exemption amounts for estate and gift taxes and how these are applied; what opportunities exist for valuation under the new rules; and more general opportunities growing out of valuation for wealth management.

Attendees became familiar with litigation issues including Daubert challenges and the new amended Federal Rules of Civil Procedure concerning expert witness reports. The new changes to the Federal transfer tax rates and amounts instituted by Congress late in 2010 were covered as well.

Free web seminar without CPE, presented by the AICPA Forensic and Valuation Services Section. CPE is available to Tax Section members for a discounted fee.
