The PFP Division understands your time and attention are limited during busy season, so we have compiled several resources designed to support you this tax season.


  • PFP News: Watch your inbox on Wednesdays for the latest legislative and regulatory updates, relevant news and member benefits. Not a PFP/PFS member? Subscribe to Financial Planning Digest, a free, weekly e-newsletter focusing entirely on the news affecting CPA financial planners (available to PFP/PFS members and non-members).

     

  • Forefield Advisor: Use this premier web-based education and client communication tool to create personalized client presentations with over 3,000 articles, concept pieces, case studies and calculators, and have relevant knowledge at your fingertips. Watch PFP News for Forefield Alerts (like the 2013 Key Numbers, which provides key figures across several planning areas and gives you the most essential figures for busy season in one convenient document) and utilize Forefield content to efficiently educate and communicate with your clients during busy season.   • Tax Return for PFP Checklist: Use this checklist, created by expert CPA financial planners, to identify financial planning opportunities as you analyze your client’s tax returns.

     

  • The CPA’s Guide to Financial and Estate Planning: Download volumes 1-4 of the 2012 edition of the guide to reference relevant chapters, charts and checklists. Note that this guide will be updated on an annual basis. Look for the latest version to be released this summer.

     

  • Podcasts and Web Seminars: Learn about the implications of the American Taxpayer Relief Act on 2013 planning in recent podcasts and web seminars from the PFP Division.

     

  • Marketing Toolkits: Market yourself by utilizing the tools and templates contained in the CPA Financial Planner Toolkit (“CPA Strong”), CPA/PFS Toolkit, or the Tax Practitioner’s Toolkit.

 

  • CPA/PFS Press Release: A new customizable press release, “Tax Time Right Time for Financial Planning” is available to PFS credential holders to highlight the importance of financial planning during tax season.  

 

  • Client Communication Materials: Available in the Tax Practitioner Toolkit to educate your clients, both individual and small business, about important tax issues and demonstrate your value as a CPA. Materials can be customized with your firm logo and other information and include client letters, social media posts, brochures on CPA services, newsletter or website blurbs on current tax topics, and print advertisements.

     

  • Quick Tax Guide:  The Journal of Accountancy Quick Tax Guide is a handy “cheat sheet” with rates and other facts you need daily for reference.

     

  • Free Tax News Each Weekday:  The AICPA’s free CPA Letter Daily covers tax news each day to help members during the tax filing season. CPA Letter Daily will highlight tax news, available resources and how many days remain to file in the “Tax Season Watch” section. For a free, weekly newsletter focusing entirely on news affecting CPA financial planners, subscribe to Financial Planning Digest, a free, weekly e-newsletter.

     

  • Timely, In-Depth Tax Articles and Videos: Find videos and useful links relating to individual and business tax, compliance concerns, employee benefit issues and more at the Journal of Accountancy’s Tax Season Resources page. Further, the free monthly AICPA Tax Insider and AICPA Wealth Management Insider e-newsletters features news and expert commentary for tax and financial planning professionals.

     

  • The Tax Adviser, the nation’s No. 1 tax magazine, is a valuable monthly resource for the latest tax-planning techniques and tax-saving methods – continuing a 40-year tradition of being the CPA’s leading source for news, analysis and guidance on federal tax.  (Available free online or as a monthly print subscription).

     

  • 360 Degrees of Taxes: Point clients and business contacts to some of the resources in the AICPA’s 360 Degrees of Taxes campaign, which is designed to position CPAs as the premier providers of tax services.

     

  • AICPA Interactive Tax Checklists (Tax Section membership or additional fee required to access, PFP/PFS members qualify for a 20% discount): Use this tax planning and workflow efficiency tool to manage your upcoming tax season.   • Peer Connections and Insights: The AICPA’s PFP LinkedIn group provides an excellent way to communicate with your peers around the country.
