In addition to Federal regulations, various states are enacting privacy regulations. This page provides information on various state privacy legislation. Forty-six states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands have now enacted legislation requiring that companies and/or state agencies disclose to consumers security breaches involving personal information.
