    Mark Your Calendar - "Developing a Successful Audit Niche Practice" Live Forum April 26, 2007, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm Eastern Time

    The Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center is pleased to co-sponsor a free member-only conference call "Developing a Successful Audit Niche Practice" on Thursday, April 26, 2007, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time. This Live Forum is being co-sponsored with the Governmental Audit Quality Center to assist you in developing a successful employee benefit plan or governmental audit practice.

    Attend this forum to learn how to apply strategic insight and strong marketing execution to ensure the success of your niche employee benefit plan or governmental audit practice. This free member-only conference call will discuss the keys to developing and growing your specialty audit practice and cover the following niche concepts:

    • Identifying your audit niche practice value proposition
    • Writing your audit niche practice "story" and weaving it into your marketing materials
    • Identifying top brand and lead generation strategies to grow your specialty audit practice
    • Managing and measuring your marketing activities

    You will leave this session with practical, effective niche marketing ideas that you can implement to realize immediate results in your practice.

    About the Speaker

    Jennifer Wilson is the co-founder and owner of ConvergenceCoaching, LLC, a national leadership and marketing consulting firm dedicated to helping CPA and IT firms achieve success. She helps firms develop leadership, succession, and marketing plans and guides them as they implement success strategies to address them. Jennifer has published many articles on leadership, management and marketing and is a nationally recognized speaker, teacher and facilitator, delivering leadership and marketing programs to accounting associations, state societies and firms on a regular basis.     Important Registration Information

    As noted above, the Live Forum will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2007, from 1:00pm to 2:30pm (ET). Registration is limited to the Designated Audit Quality Partner (DAQP) with responsibility for your firm's employee benefit plan audit practice. You can register by sending an e-mail to EBPAQC@aicpa.org and providing your name, firm name, and the e-mail address. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you a few days before the Live Forum that will include conference call instructions, presentation slides, and other handout materials.

    If you wish to have other staff participate in the forum please invite them to listen with you on your line, but only the DAQP can register. Also, if you are unable to attend the Live Forum, we will be recording the forum and archiving it on the EBPAQC Web Site for partners and staff who can not participate. The archive will be posted to the EBPAQC Web Site by mid-May 2007. Finally, please note that there will be no CPE associated with this Live Forum.

    AICPA Volunteer Committee Applications Accepted Until May 1, 2007

    If you are a partner in your firm and are interested in contributing to the profession and networking with your peers, then consider applying to serve on the EBPAQC Executive Committee or the Employee Benefit Plan Expert Panel.  Applications are now being accepted for the next committee year (October 2007 – October 2008) and will be accepted until May 1st. Volunteer committee applications can be accessed online at http://volunteers.aicpa.org  Please provide a detailed bio that includes information about your EBP experience along with your application. If you have any questions regarding the applications process or AICPA volunteer opportunities in general address inquiries to David Ray at 212-596–6030 or to committee@aicpa.org.

    Following is some detailed information about Executive Committee and Expert Panel activities, and the qualifications required of applicants.

    EBPAQC Executive Committee - The EBPAQC Executive Committee establishes general policies of the Center and oversees its activities. Membership on the Executive Committee requires a minimum commitment of 125 to 150 volunteer hours per year. Committee members are expected to attend three meetings per year, participate in several conference calls throughout the year, and participate in task forces activities and Center-sponsored conference calls. Candidates must be the firm's Center EBP Designated Partner and have significant employee benefit plan audit experience and demonstrated commitment to improving ERISA audit quality.

    EBP Expert Panel - The Employee Benefit Plan Expert Panel monitors employee benefit plan industry developments, trends and opportunities to identify and advise on reporting, attest and assurance issues unique to employee benefit plans. Membership on the Expert Panel requires a minimum commitment of 75 to 100 volunteer hours per year and members are also expected to participate in additional task forces to develop and update AICPA technical accounting and auditing guidance.
