    Special Event – Center Members are Invited to Attend Risk Assessment
    Standards Practice Management Forum

    Tuesday, September 18, 2007, 2:00 – 3:30 pm Eastern

    EBPAQC members are invited to participate in a free Practice Management Forum, The Risk Assessment Standards, sponsored by the AICPA Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS) on September 18, 2007 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. E.T.

    The AICPA's Auditing Standards Board issued eight standards—Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) Nos. 104 through 111, referred to as the Risk Assessment Standards—that will change the way auditors approach risk in a financial statement audit. The standards are effective for audits of financial statements for periods beginning on or after December 15, 2006.

    This Live Forum will provide a general overview on understanding and implementing the Risk Assessment Standards, and will give your firm an excellent opportunity to educate yourself and your staff about this important new guidance. The EBPAQC will sponsor a live forum call at a later date that will address these standards as they affect employee benefit plan audits.

    The Live Forum will be presented by Chuck Landes, AICPA Vice President, Professional Standards and Services Group, and will feature a live interactive PowerPoint presentation followed by a Q&A segment. Chuck Landes is a former member of the Auditing Standards Board and was a member of the Audit Issues Task Force. Before joining the Institute, he was partner in charge of the accounting and auditing practice of a large local firm in Ohio.

    We hope you will be able to join us for this Live Forum. Due to teleconferencing restrictions, we ask that each member firm limit its' participation to one dial-in line per office. In the event that your schedule does not permit you to participate in the live call, The Risk Assessment Standards Live Forum will also be recorded and archived and may be listened to by members free of charge after October 15. Additional information about the archived Live Forum will be available on the Center website under the Events tab in "Past Events".

    Please pre-register to participate. To help us determine the number of phone lines to open, please pre-register for your participation in the call by providing us with your name, firm name, email address, and the city in which your firm's office is located by emailing the Center at ebpaqc@aicpa.org by Friday, September 14, 2007.

    Additional participant information and dial-in instructions will be sent a few days before the event to all individuals who have pre-registered and all designated partners. Each designated partner is responsible for forwarding this information to applicable participants within their firm who have not pre-registered. No CPE credit is offered for this event.

    Department of Labor Chief Accountant Ian Dingwall Recognized as the 2007 AICPA Outstanding CPA in Federal Government

    Ian Dingwall, Chief Accountant, Employee Benefits Security Administration, U.S. Department of Labor, was this year's recipient of the  AICPA Outstanding CPA in Government Award, Federal Level. Mr. Dingwall assumed the position as the first Chief Accountant of the DOL's Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) in 1988 and serves as EBSA's primary adviser on accounting and auditing issues stemming from EBSA's responsibilities under ERISA and the Federal Employee Retirement Security Act (FERSA). The Office of the Chief Accountant monitors and enforces ERISA and Department of Labor annual employee benefit plan reporting requirements for over 1 million employee benefit plans and audit requirements for over 81,000 plans.

    Mr. Dingwall has made numerous contributions to state and national professional organizations and is frequent speaker at AICPA, state CPA society and CPA firm conferences. Mr. Dingwall has been a constant advocate for enhanced quality of ERISA audits and has a long history of public service. He was listed as one of the "Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting" by the editors of Accounting Today and was appointed to the AICPA's first prestigious "Group of 100" to help shape the future role of the CPA profession. Mr. Dingwall received a "Hammer" award from Vice President Gore for helping to "build a government that works better and costs less."

    Ian Dingwall receives the AICPA 2007 Outstanding CPA in Federal Government Award from Susan S. Coffey, AICPA Senior Vice President - Member Quality and State Regulation.

    The EBPAQC applauds Ian for his contributions to the profession and on receiving this prestigious award in recognition for his accomplishments.
