Community - Accounting Education

The AICPA has many member and volunteer committees that work with the Academic & Career Awareness Team staff. Additionally, the Institute works closely with other organizations that serve the accounting education community.

AICPA Foundation
The AICPA Foundation was established in 1922 to advance the science of accountancy and accounting education. It's core purpose is to benefit the public by supporting financial education and ethical business behavior and promoting a culturally diverse profession.

AICPA Pre-certification Education Executive Committee (PcEEC)
PcEEC assists the academic community in preparing students with the core competencies needed for entry into the profession by recommending continuous improvements in curricula, instructional materials and pedagogy. The committee encourages and supports the recruitment of talented students into the profession.

State CPA Societies/State Boards of Accountancy
The AICPA collaborates with state professional associations and licensing boards to promote the CPA Profession and guide individuals who are pursuing the CPA credential.

AICPA Minority Initiatives Committee (MIC)
In response to the lack of minorities interested or employed in the accounting profession, AICPA Council passed a resolution to integrate the accounting profession in 1969. The Minority Initiatives Committee (MIC) develops comprehensive programs aimed at encouraging students from underrepresented ethnic groups to become accounting majors and ultimately obtain the CPA designation.
