Health Care Reform

On March 23, 2010, the 2010 health care reform legislation was signed into law. In the months and years ahead, this legislation as we know it today will change; regulations and additional implementation guidance will be issued; new initiatives will be proposed; and some that have already passed may be adjusted or withdrawn. As an ongoing, critical issue, it has far-reaching strategic and tax implications to your organization and clients. The information and resources included here will assist you in navigating the complexities of the health care reform act and making informed decisions for your organization, firm and clients.
Whether working in practice or industry, CPAs need to understand the implications of health care reform and be able to effectively advise their firm, organization or clients.
This article describes many of the tax items in the two pieces of legislation designed to reform the U.S. health care system.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act add a number of new taxes and make various other revenue-increasing changes to the Code in order to help finance health care reform.
