Florida Candidate Tops Field on CPA Exam
Alison Rae Mathis, a tax consultant in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Tampa office, won the Elijah Watts Sells gold medal by earning the highest score among the nearly 60,000 candidates who sat for the CPA exam in November 2003. The other Sells awards went to Laura C. Willis of Indianapolis—who placed second, winning a silver medal—and Nivedita Giupta of Aurora, Illinois, who won the third-place bronze medal.

RThe Institute in May presented the first annual Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) Lifetime Achievement Award to Dana “Rick” Richardson, CPA, at the AICPA Tech 2004 Conference in Las Vegas. The citation recognized Richardson’s work with the profession—during a 28-year career at Ernst & Young—to advance information technology. He now is CEO of a high-tech consulting firm in Ridgefield, Connecticut. The CITP credential is available exclusively to CPAs who meet rigorous professional requirements for IT expertise.
