Tax season is just around the corner. To help you promote your tax practices and position the CPA as the premier provider of tax services year-round, the AICPA has produced a comprehensive variety of resources. From a tax savings strategy brochure, PowerPoint and speech to tax tip tweets, talking points to help you discuss your qualifications in light of the new IRS tax preparer registration and new customizable print ads, AICPA members have a rich selection from which to choose. All of these materials are available on the CPA Marketing Toolkit.

In addition, the AICPA has launched a new consumer website that’s all about taxes – providing tips and information, and even an Ask A CPA feature. Visit www.360Taxes.org to learn more.

Market Your Practice with Tax Saving Strategies Brochure, Speech and PowerPoint Presentations

The AICPA’s annual Tax Saving Strategies brochure, speech and PowerPoint presentation for individuals feature an overview of key tax-law provisions, from the latest on Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) and First-Time Homebuyer Credit to long-term capital gains and dividends and the Retirement Savings Contributions (Saver’s) Credit, to name just a few. Print and mail the brochure and present the speech and PowerPoint slides at community events and venues. These materials reflect current tax law, as of Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 and will be updated as quickly as possible to reflect any changes Congress may make that would affect taxpayers preparing their 2010 tax returns or doing tax planning for 2011.

The new Tax Saving Strategies for Small Businesses brochure, speech and PowerPoint presentation will be available through the CPA Marketing Toolkit in January. Use these materials to market your practice and/or services, and raise your visibility in the community. Like the brochure for individuals, the small business brochure includes space for you to imprint your firm name and contact information.

Promote the CPA as the Premier Provider of Tax Services

Your clients and prospects may ask: “Is there really a difference between a CPA and a tax preparer?” The AICPA has developed talking points and a video featuring AICPA President and CEO, Barry C. Melancon, CPA, to help you talk about a CPA’s unique qualifications with your current and prospective clients.

Additionally, to help clients and prospects understand the benefits of working with a CPA, the AICPA has created a downloadable and printable booklet entitled, Trusted Financial and Tax Planning from Your Local CPA. The booklet provides details about the services that CPAs provide and helps guide consumers toward the CPA as the go-to tax and financial planning expert.

    Place Compelling Print Ads

To help members promote their tax expertise year-round, the AICPA has developed three new print advertisements. The ads speak to the CPAs’ preparation and qualifications and feature images of CPAs alongside other highly skilled professionals such as an astronaut. The headline reads: “Your CPA. Few prepare as rigorously.” Download these free advertisements, which provide an area for your firm name and contact information.

Help Consumers Learn More through 360Taxes.org
Finally, the AICPA has launched the 360 Degrees of Taxes (360Taxes.org) website for consumers. The site explains the services a CPA offers, how CPAs differ from other tax preparers, provides guidance on selecting a tax preparer and underscores the value of year-round tax planning. Free tax resources include tips and FAQs; tools to help consumers find a CPA in their communities; a calendar of state CPA society organized tax-related events across the country; and an Ask A CPA section, where our member CPAs volunteer to answer consumer questions. You can volunteer to be a part of the Ask A CPA project by clicking here. 360taxes.org is an extension of 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy, the CPA profession’s volunteer effort to help Americans manage their finances through every stage of life.
