    Overview

    This category welcomes Certified Public Accountants (CPAs), whether current or previously certified/licensed. As a full, voting member, you enjoy all the benefits of membership, together with eligibility to apply for committee service, for a seat on the AICPA Council and/or for a member seat on the Board of Directors, and to vote in AICPA member ballots.

    Regular members may enhance membership further with access to our specialized interest sections, or apply for further credentials and designations.

    Requirements

    Apply for this category if: Either you hold now or previously held* a valid CPA certificate or license and have passed the U.S Uniform Certified Public Accountancy Examination (U.S. CPA Exam)
    OR you have completed the requirements for CPA licensure as defined by the Uniform Accountancy Act (UAA), but you have never been licensed.

    Education: You have passed the U.S. CPA Exam and meet the 150-hour requirement. Exceptions may apply. Read More

    Annual membership dues are based on your role, industry and work status. An enrollment fee of $65 applies for new members. The following are the annual dues by organization or business category:
    Public Accounting, Law, Consulting: $235 - $425
    Business & Industry: $235 - $425
    Education, Government: $235

    Renewal Period: Invoices to renew AICPA membership and specialized interest sections , credentials and designations held are sent in June for the upcoming membership year (August 1 - July 31). Payment is due on or before July 31.

    Payment Methods: Renew securely online by credit or debit card or by mailing a check. Funds are to be made in U.S. dollars drawn on a U.S financial institution.

    Apply for this category if: You have passed the CPA Exam, and have not yet achieved your CPA certificate/license certified as a CPA but are working towards it.

    Education: You have met the educational requirements to sit for the Uniform CPA Examination.

    Professional Licensure:
    You hold a valid non-U.S. accounting credential from one of the above professional organizations, governmental entity or similar accountancy body approved by the AICPA Board of Directors and do not hold a CPA certificate issued by a U.S. jurisdiction. U.S. CPA certificate holders may be eligible for our regular membership category.

    You meet one of the following criteria and have not passed the Uniform CPA exam or the International Qualification Exam:
    • You are an owner of a public accounting firm that employs at least one senior level employee who is a current AICPA Regular Member (Voting) of the AICPA.
    • You are a professional staff member in a public accounting firm that employs at least one senior level employee who is a current AICPA Regular Member (Voting) of the AICPA.
    • You are a financial professional in a business, government, not-for-profit organization or in a consulting or law firm, and a current AICPA Regular Member (Voting) is willing to sponsor your application. *
    • You are a full-time business or accounting educator at an accredited college or university.

    * When applying under the third condition above, please provide the name and membership number of a current Regular Member (Voting) willing to sponsor your application. Sponsoring a finance professional is an affirmation by the member that the applicant is employed in a business, government, a non-profit organization, or in a consulting or law firm.

    Overview

    You are welcome to apply for the CPA Exam Candidate Affiliate membership category if you intend to sit for or are in the process of sitting for the Uniform Certified Public Accountancy Examination (the US CPA Exam).

    Requirements


    Apply for this category if:
    You are a graduate of a domestic or non-U.S. college or university and one of the following is true regarding your completion of the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination:
    • You intend to study for the exam.
    • You are scheduled to take the exam.
    • You are in the process of sitting for the exam.

    *Note: You may remain in the CPA Examination Candidate Affiliate category for a period of five years or until you qualify for another membership category, whichever occurs first.

    Membership Time Limit:
    Membership in the CPA Exam Candidate Affiliate category is available if you have a current Notice to Schedule to sit for the Uniform CPA Examination and then for a maximum of 5 years from joining it, or until you pass the Uniform CPA Examination, whichever comes first. On passing the exam, you may then apply to join the Associate category.

    Annual membership dues are a special low rate in recognition of your commitment to sit for the US CPA Exam. In addition, there is no enrollment fee for new members ($65 for other categories)
