The 2012 Practice Guides and Checklists are updated, reviewed and tested and are now ready for you to download. A big thank you to our volunteer task force members for their many hours of hard work and the reviewers who put in many hours as well in putting this together.
We are happy to announce again this year, that the majority of the tax checklists will be available as part of Interactive Tax Checklists! There are also several enhancements to the Interactive Tax Checklists such as workflow, batch client import, and more.
Please note, we will not be offering the fillable PDF checklists for download. However, you can access a printout of a completed checklist by logging into the Interactive Tax Checklists, answering the questions and printing a completed PDF for your client.
What is Interactive Tax Checklists?
This tool combines the trusted content of the AICPA's Tax Practice Guides and AICPA’s Tax Checklists with a digital environment to promote efficiency and firm collaboration. You’ll be able to interact with the trusted content—no need to copy and save for every client; log on and access your checklists from any trusted Internet connection; and share access to checklists within your firm.
With this solution firms can develop a more efficient checklist process, saving time while supporting gold standards in client service.
Tax Law Changes Incorporated into Interactive Tax Checklists
The 1040, 1120S, 1120C, and 1041 have been updated with the new tax law changes for the 2012 tax year. If you have already started your checklist, no problem! Upgrade your checklist and continue working. To upgrade, first make sure you are in firm administrator. You will see a green arrow icon notifying you that an upgrade is available. Select that icon. It will ask you if you would like to see the changes or skip. You can choose to view the report, this process may take several minutes, a report icon will appear next to the checklist when the report is ready. You can see what has been deleted or modified in the checklist.
In case you were wondering, the word and pdf versions also have the tax law changes incorporated in them.

Tax practice guides and checklists are designed as educational and reference material for the members of the Tax Section and others interested in the subject. They do not establish standards or preferred practices.
Although much thought and effort have gone into the development of these guides, they are subject to change. These practice guides are issued as drafts only, and you retain responsibility for their final content. Please review them carefully and make any changes necessary for your specific use.
