Delaware Opportunity: Until June 30, 2013 - Delaware Unclaimed Property Voluntary Disclosure Program

Delaware Opportunity:  Until June 30, 2013 - Delaware Unclaimed Property Voluntary Disclosure Program

Date:  May 1, 2013
Time:  3-4 pm e.t.

Speakers:

The Honorable Jeffrey Bullock, Delaware Secretary of State
Geoffrey Sawyer, Esq., Delaware Unclaimed Property VDA Program Administrator
Chris Hopkins, CPA

Many Delaware-incorporated businesses and other companies doing business in Delaware may have exposure to the Delaware unclaimed property rules.  In order to bring more businesses into compliance with the state’s unclaimed property rules, Delaware has enacted a short-term voluntary disclosure agreement (VDA) program.  Practitioners with business clients located in, or incorporated in, Delaware should attend this webinar to find out what needs  to do done before the June 30, 2013 deadline for the new unclaimed property voluntary disclosure program.  The webinar featured the Delaware Secretary of State, whose office (not the Dept. of Finance/Division of Revenue), is administering the voluntary disclosure program.  This is a time-sensitive opportunity for business that potentially provides a shortened look-back period to 1996.

The speakers reviewed:
  • What is and what is not covered by the program,
  • The procedures that need to be followed to successfully complete the program, and
  • What a business should expect if it decides to participate in the program.

Tax Section members attending without CPE can attend for free.  Discounted CPE is available for Tax Section members.
