The penalties for not complying with FBAR rules are stiff. Make sure you and your employees or clients are in compliance - some situations and types of accounts are easy to miss! Find out what you need to know in this webcast on calendar 2011 filings of Form TD F 90-22.1,
Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR), that are due by June 30, 2012, including:
- who must file a 2011 FBAR, including individuals and various entities;
- when and how to file, including options on electronic filing;
- common types of foreign accounts that require reporting;
- easy to miss foreign accounts that require reporting;
- exceptions to reporting;
- threshold to determine required reporting;
- which 2011 and prior year FBARs are currently extended; and,
- the significant potential civil and criminal penalties associated with FBARs.
We'll also discuss many of the common concerns of taxpayers and practitioners such as:
- am I asking the right questions of my clients?;
- do I really have to file an FBAR just because I have signature authority over my employer's or my parent's foreign account?;
- update on current options available if all required prior year FBARs have not been filed; and,
- how FBAR interplays with new Form 8938.
