PCPS and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) are pleased to introduce the 2010 PCPS/TSCPA National MAP Survey! The Survey’s rich history makes it the leading benchmarking survey for CPA professionals. Thus, the co-branding by both organizations is consistent with the dedication and commitment that drive both groups to assist and serve CPA practitioners.
This invaluable tool allows firms of all sizes, including small, medium and large, to compare management policies and financial results against other firms. It also provides strategic guidance to help firms build their practice.
Content for the bi-annual CPA firm benchmarking survey received a number of revisions and improvements in 2008 in response to participant feedback from previous years. The 2010 survey maintains these improvements while incorporating updated content and questions to reflect practice management issues facing practitioners today.

PCPS Membership
The best deal for the 2010 PCPS/TSCPA National MAP Survey and other notable benefits is PCPS membership. If you are not already a member, your firm can join for $35 per CPA (maximum $700) per year. Firms can join prior to participating in the survey and indicate membership in their response. And prospective members can join PCPS when purchasing results after September. (At the time of purchase, the firm will be charged the PCPS membership rate, based on the number of CPAs in the firm, and will be sent the appropriate results report as a PCPS benefit.)
Based on Years of Experience
The partnership between PCPS and TSCPA since 2002 unites the resources of both organizations. It is also driven by a focus on survey success at all levels. Once again for 2010, PCPS has contracted with IntelliSurvey, an experienced and technologically sound vendor who shares the commitment to quality in collecting and analyzing data and disseminating survey results.
John Sharbaugh, TSCPA Executive Director, said The National MAP Survey “gives firms information to help get a feel for how their practice stacks up against other practices. Hopefully, they can use that information to make changes in their operations. The primary beneficiaries will be small and mid-size firms that don't have access to this type of information. There are other surveys out there, but generally they apply to large firms. What's most helpful, to small and mid-size practices, is to know what other firms in your own area are doing in terms of how they run their practices, what they're paying in starting salaries, and comparisons such as that."
Timing
The 2010 survey was conducted from May 17th through September 3rd and is now closed.
