CPA/PFS Mentor Program

Program Objectives: The goal of the CPA/PFS Mentor Program is to provide a way for CPAs and CPA candidates who are early in their financial planning career to learn how CPAs approach the personal financial planning profession, develop their professional skills and better serve their clients through the guidance of other more experienced and accomplished CPA/PFS financial professionals. It will also benefit CPA/PFS credential holders who have been practicing for a few years and need some guidance for growing and expanding their practices.

How the Mentor Program Works: Mentors and their protégés are carefully matched by the administering staff at your CPA state society or association. Each program participant will be contacted and provided with the profile of their prospective mentor/protégé. Protégés will make the initial contact with the mentor. Using the CPA/PFS Mentor Program Handbook as a guide, mentors and protégés should plan to meet, for example, once a quarter for a one-hour conference call. More or less frequent brief meetings may take place depending upon individual preferences, goals and by agreement of the mentor and protégé.

The AICPA’s PFS Credential Committee is committed to building and supporting a strong community of CPA/PFS credential holders with the tools and resources needed to be successful. The CPA/PFS Mentor Program is a valuable resource that can make a significant difference in your professional career. Therefore, we encourage you to sign up and actively participate today.
