Peer Review Exposure Drafts and White Papers

August 22, 2011 Exposure Draft
On August 22, 2011, the AICPA Peer Review Board issued an Exposure Draft with proposed changes for peer review qualifications, planning and performing QCM reviews, QCM provider and reviewer cooperation and publicizing QCM review information.

During the process of finalizing the changes based on the June 1, 2010 exposure draft, the Board recognized a need to provide additional guidance on administering QCM reviews, and performing and evaluating QCM review results. This new guidance was not addressed in the June 1, 2010 exposure draft, and is largely unrelated to the finalized independence guidance.

August 15, 2011 White Paper
On August 15, 2011, the AICPA Peer Review Board issued a White Paper discussing the final changes made to the Standards for Performing and Reporting on Peer Reviews based on the June 1, 2010 exposure draft. These changes are largely independence considerations for individuals that develop and/or maintain quality control materials (QCM) and perform peer reviews. The white paper explains the rationale of the final changes and provides a bridge between the changes originally proposed in the June 1, 2010 exposure draft and the final changes approved during the August 10, 2011 open session Board meeting.

June 1, 2010 Exposure Draft
On June 1, 2010, the AICPA Peer Review Board released an Exposure Draft containing proposed revisions to the guidance for quality control materials (QCM) and continuing professional education (CPE) program peer reviews embodied in the AICPA Standards for Performing and Reporting on Peer Reviews (Standards) and Interpretations to the Standards.
