Substantial attention has been placed on how senior level executives handle the multitude of risk impacting their organizations. Risk-taking and systematic risks can lead to catastrophic results if an effective enterprise risk management (ERM) strategy is not in place. Though much of the current risk dialogue has been discussed in the for-profit realm, ERM is relevant to not-for-profits as well, especially in light of the impact the tough economy is having on donations, endowments and grants. This brief will discuss the relevance of risk oversight to not-for-profits, developing an enterprise risk awareness view and focusing on emerging strategic risks. |
